A page is optimised for search engines in itself, if it contains relevant content. It's your and your communitys task to generate this content. The forum engine generates an appropriate HTML output for human readers and for the robots of the common search engines (for latin based languages).

Yes its true that Manually SEO and link building is always better than using softwares for link building .

Software repeats anchor tag being used for link building
Also software some time submit website to so many multiple bad quality directories or classified sites that it backfires . And website get hit by Penguin update.

So its always recommended to manually submit to quality relevant sites only
