This problem only occurs with the MSIE in version 8 and not with any other browser in any other version? So it seems that the MSIE8 want's to get a special treatment of CSS rules for the buttons.

It is not the CSS as I assumed. It is a bug in the JavaScript. For solution see this posting (german language).
