Invalid e-mail address when registering (Bugs)

by davwat, Thursday, April 23, 2009, 00:06 (5476 days ago)

When doing a new registration if someone does a typo error when entering their e-mail address such as <george@example,net.au> the following message is shown.

The account has been registered but the activation key could not been sent (mail server not available). Please contact the forum administrator and ask for manual account activation.

In the case of the typo error is leaving a space such as <george @example,net.au> the activation e-mail will be sent and even received by the person doing the registration.

On another point, when doing a new registration if someone enters an e-mail address as a username the same message as above is shown.

Would it be possible to prevent people using an e-mail address as a username by making the @ character invalid in usernames.

Have a Good Day!
