ETA for version 2.0? (General)

by Per Bylund ⌂ @, Columbia, Mo, Saturday, July 19, 2008, 16:59 (5754 days ago)

Hi there!

I've been following the discussions and evolution of version 2.0 for a while. Since I've had the pleasure of using MLF for years I am eager to upgrade my 1.76 to 2.0. The increasing spam problem from spambots isn't making me less eager.

Anyway, I'm currently moving my sites to a new host, so I am very interested in if you have any thoughts on when RC2 will be bumped up to a fixed release. Do you think this will take days, weeks, or months? I guess my question is: should I upgrade now to the RC2 or should I wait?

Thanks!

ETA for version 2.0?

Hi Per,

I just released 2.0 RC 3 and I think you can dare to install it! There's also a backup script to get your 1.7 data imported into 2.0.
There's still no specific release date for 2.0 final but there won't be major changes.

Thanks, Alex. I'll go for it. However, I got an error when trying to execute the backup.php file:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 243232233 bytes) in /home/anarchis/public_html/backup.php on line 169

OK, I didn't think about the maximum memory size! I'll implement an option to directly write the data into the backup file while requesting it from the database (even though the server timeout could be a problem if save mode is enabled).
