Temporary disabling of email notification (General)

by ralphdn, Wednesday, May 07, 2008, 09:06 (5804 days ago)

It is often necessary or desirable that email notification be briefly disabled while system testing is being performed. Can mail notification be globally disabled briefly for this purpose? I found a setting labelled "email_notification," might it do the trick to set this to zero, or have I misinterpreted the meaning of this setting?

Now I'll shut up for awhile...

Hi Ralph!

I found a setting labelled "email_notification,"...

In v1.7, 'Admin area' > 'Forum settings' > 'Advanced settings' :-D

... might it do the trick to set this to zero,...

Exactly!

... or have I misinterpreted the meaning of this setting?

No, but why didn't you simply try it by yourself?

I generally do, but in my forum I have no users, only 17 moderators, and they all rely on email notification. So I seldom have the opportunity to test - unless I can turn off email notification, which I now can!

Thanks again,
Ralph
