CAPTCHA works very well since it allows my forum users to be able to post without having to register.

There are now Akismet and Bad-Behavior as replacements. And they work pretty good without bothering the users. On this forum you can also post without being registered.

Thanks Alex. Yes, I realize that people can post without having to register in version 2.0 as well. But in version 1.7, when people are posting anonymously without registration, they are asked to do a CAPTCHA calculation, this is very good because it deters trouble makers who just want to post and cause trouble in the forum.

Right now in this very forum, I can post anonymously without registration, if I were to cause trouble in the forum, I could easily post 20, 30 , 50 posts and flood the forum with useless information. With a CAPTCHA, it will deter me from doing so.
