on version 2.4.2 the favicon only shows for the homepage and /index.php?mode=index all other forum pages show no favicon even the contact page, register and login have no favicon? Using ie

I am not aware of any reason, why this should happen. The favicon is declared in the main template, which is used for most of the forum pages with exception of a few documents like the upload-popup.

Did you change anything like the theme? Did the URL in the HTML-meta-element, wich points to the icon, have the correct URL (typically something like "http://www.example.net/forum/themes/default/images/favicon.ico") in the bothered pages? Is the protocol of the URL correct ("http://" vs. "https://")?
