Replace mathematical captcha with words (my little forum)

I'm trying to follow the CAPTCHA customization; replace the numbers with words to try and elude the spambots a bit more.

The instructions say to input the following line in the "template":

{$captcha.number_1|replace:"1":"one"|replace:"2":"two"|replace...}

(Added spaces to post this topic.)

Can someone tell me where exactly I need to put this? I've tried template.html, lang/english.php, captcha/captcha.php without success. Or is this only possible in version 2? Thanks in advance!
