Forum Broke While Upgrading From Version 2.3 to 2.3.3 (General)

by confusedtothemax @, Friday, September 05, 2014, 16:27 (3520 days ago)

I was in the middle of upgrading my forum to the new 2.3.3 version when the browser crashed and now I can't do anything. Can't login, can't register, see users, run /upgrade script or /install scripts. The forum's there, I just can't do anything. I uploaded all of the files and changed CHMODs. Don't know what else to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello

I was in the middle of upgrading my forum to the new 2.3.3 version when the browser crashed and now I can't do anything. Can't login, can't register, see users, run /upgrade script or /install scripts. The forum's there, I just can't do anything. I uploaded all of the files and changed CHMODs. Don't know what else to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Step 1:
Take a look into phpMyAdmin (or into a similar tool) to check for the existence of database tables. Check if the expected data (entries, users, etc.) is present in the tables and run a backup.

Step 2:
Delete the current installation from the webspace via your FTP client.

Step 3:
Upload the new version of mlf2 to your webspace.

Step 4:
Run the install script again. Point to the existing database tables during the installation.

Alternatively you can delete the existing tables in the case of an available database backup and run a clean install. Afterwards you import the database backup data into the new tables.
