Using tags (Features)

Hi,

My question may sound very stupid, but how to use tags in my forum? I can only use tags if I am logged in as admin. Is the tag functionality different, than in other forums? Please correct me if I am wrong, but I think tags are just for the admin, to post some useful hints, or a useful thread. For sorting purposes, we have to use different categories.

Thanks in advance!

Except the fact that moderators can set tags too, your assumption is correct.

How ist works in other forums/boards?

That's how it works, but it would be an improvement, if at least registered users could tag their own postings. If only admins and moderators (like today) can tag any postings, it is either a lot of work or it will not be done.

Tschö, Auge

Thanks !
I think being able to tag your posts within a particular category would definitely be an upgrade. This will help, as we don't need a lot of categories to filter. A post can be categorized generally through a category, and then user can further sub categorize through a tag.

For eg. we can have a general programming category, and then if a user wants to post a problem related to a multiple languages combined, he/she can easily tag their post with all relevant tags. This filters, as well as enhances the filter for multiple related problems.

Well, this is just what I feel. Thanks for clarifying !
