Captcha image not showing despite gd library (General)

by sam452, Saturday, September 07, 2013, 12:45 (3878 days ago)

In testing MLF on our site, I'm finding that the captcha image is not showing. Looking around I see that the gd library must be running and that there is at least one ttf font in /modules/captcha/fonts/ and the Tahoma. I've even added a second .ttf to be sure, but the ALT "Please contact the forum administrator if you can't see this image" is showing.

The mathematical test is showing and working. What am I overlooking? thanx, sam

Which distro are you using? Also if you installed GD enabled version of php5 binary (and didnt compile) you would need to restart apache for it to take effect. I notice that your phpinfo file entry for GD only has about half the available supported options enabled. No Freetype. Try enabling all the options in GD. It works fine for me using debian with all options enabled. Check your logs also.

Yes, it turns out as you describe. The ISP is not willing to install FreeType. I'm not that up on PHP, but using another Recaptcha service seems out of the question?

Thanks for responding, sam
