Activation Key - my little forum

When i register my own forum i receive this message

The account has been registered and the activation key has been sent to asdasd@asdasd.com. The account has to be activated within one day.

But there is no activation key mail in my inbox.

may be it's because mlf is running in a virtual machine (FreeBSD) on my MacBookPro?
Do I have to install a mailserver first?

If you want to send emails you have to set up an email server.
