Using Google Adsense Banners on v1.7

Is it some how possible to use the Google Adsense banner on the v1.7? I tried adding the code for the banner to the template.html file but the banner would not load. I kept getting a faded display that stated "Loading..."

Are you trying to put it in the Smarty template files? Try bracketing the AdSense code with

{literal}AdSense code...{/literal}
