Hi Alex,
I just got a request from one of my users whether it would be posible to include an option in the personal profile to be notified by e-mail of all new posts - not only replies to own posts.
Reason: not everybody is familiar - or even willing - to deal with the RSS-feed.

Do you mean the same option that moderators and admins have (to receive a notification on every posting)? Or do you mean an option, to receive a notification on every reply in a thread (this is already possible if you start a new thread)?

Since this was already an option in the 1.7x branch it should be kept anyway.

Hm, it wasn't really intended for that... what's wrong with the RSS Feed? Isn't every E-mail client able to read RSS Feeds by now? (What about Outlook?)

Was it? AFAIK in 1.7 you only receive notifications on direct replies.

Nothing is wrong with the RSS-feed; it's a wonderful thing. The e-mail notification was just a request from my users.
Not every E-mail client... for example Seamonkey needs the NewsFox extension; no idea about the M$-stuff

Come on, you wrote this wonderful piece of software. 
Admin area > advanced settings > email_notification: 1
By this the admin gets an e-mail notification of every new post (Subject line: New entry in the forum: title of the post)
