You re-invented the wheel. This function is available since the earliest beta-versions. Admins/Mods may move single posts/entire threads. Click on ' move' in the bottom right hand corner of the post. You have two options:

• Make a new thread
  
• Link to another post (you have to know the id of the post you want to link to beforehand)
