I just installed MLF and was all set to play with the configuration settings but apparently I have forgotten the admin name and password so the script won't allow me to log in. Does this mean I have to uninstall everything and reinstall the forum? Or is there somewhere to retrieve the information?

You got no email with the needed data? If you have access to the database i.e. via phpMyAdmin you can get the username. Maybe you will find the password if you know the name. The password itself is crypted in the database. You can't reuse it with typing the stored string.
